My entry for the RIFT - Create a colossus -contest.
It is a Death Colossus.

"Battle against the midless horrors from the death rift has lasted for almost a whole long and exhausting day. Just when the
situation was contained by the brave warriors, something horrendous materialized from the rift that froze the hearts and
minds of the defenders with pure fear."

This massive creature of the netherworld has taken the shape of a giant arachnid to wreak havoc in the mortal realm. The demon
arachnid exists only to serve its summoner and is not subject to any human emotions such as fear or mercy. The demon thrives
on death and destruction and will cover the land into an endless night if not stopped somehow.

I modeled most of the architecture in 3dsmax and all the rest is painted by hand in photoshop.
The whole project took many long hours during the last month, but it was entirely a fun project.
After sketching for alternatives i ended up with this arachnid design placed into a cityscape. The
design of the colossus has a hint of humor in it, but hopefully not too much for it to entirely lose
the fierceness intended

really cool and kinda terrifying as a giant arachnid like that is pretty much my worst fear, love the design though.

this is pure gold. that thing will devour everything in its way. but screw the spidey, look at those cavalry units at its feet! what the hell. the amount of details is breath taking.
clearly one of the best, if not the best, on this contest so far.
